Neste Kilpilahti– Nordic North Gen. 2 floodlights
Neste Oyj develops responsible solutions for transport, business, and consumer needs. Neste helps its customers reduce environmental emissions with a diverse range of renewable products, and is the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel refined from waste and residues. Neste also produces renewable solutions for the aviation and plastics industries.
Greger Sundberg and Dan Flykt of Porvoo-based SLO, along with Maintenance Supervisor Niko Hautamäki, who is in charge of electrics at Neste’s Porvoo refinery, worked together to find the ideal solution to light the Finnish flag at Neste’s Porvoo harbour.
A Finnish flag stands in front of Neste’s harbour, informing incoming freight vessels that they are arriving into a Finnish harbour area. The lighting used for the Finnish flag was in need of an overhaul, and El-Björn’s new, energy-efficient LED floodlights (Nordic North gen. 2) were chosen for the job.
“The flag communicates to freight vessels that they are arriving into a Finnish harbour. With the flag flying at all hours, it must be lit during hours of darkness. It is important to us that the lighting solution we use is sustainable and energy efficient,” Niko Hautamäki explains.
El-Björn’s Nordic North Gen. 2 floodlights are designed to light harbour areas, sports fields and buildings. The floodlights produce more than 140 lumens/W, are highly energy efficient, and make use of new, non-glare lens technology.
“It is vital to have good partners, such as SLO, with whom we can find the optimal solutions for customers’ needs. Smooth cooperation ensured that we found the most energy efficient LED floodlight solution for the customer at this site, too,” states Dennis Lindqvist of El-Björn.
